Goals

  • Local focus, commitment, and influence
Local conferences, retreats, reading groups, faith and culture evenings, special emphasis groups (art, music, etc.).   Function as a “community-based” organization—a community of thought, community of shared experiences, community of faith and culture goals, community of care for one another and for the world God created.

  • Long-term viability
Establish a viable faith and culture institution in central Indiana over the next 5 to 10 years, including the development of ICT as a "convening organization" for other like-minded and goal-oriented groups.

  • Networking
Networking is essential because it connects us to a wider community of learners, creates a wider discussion and provides resources from a wide range of people, disciplines, and cultural perspectives.

  • Educational trips and tours
Educational tours provide opportunities for learning in an expanded way and give an appreciation for different cultures.
For those who desire to rise above their times or stand outside their cultures, there are three sure ways.  In ascending order they are travel, history, and direct knowledge of God. 1
  • ICT On Track
Regular teaching and discussion series on faith and culture issues that both educate and teach the art of "Thinking Christianly."  G. K. Chesterton once wrote:  But if Christianity should happen to be true—then defending it may mean talking about anything and everything. 2

  • True Discipleship
Francis Schaeffer stated it well several years ago: Too many of our churches have become nothing more than a series of preaching points and activity generators.  True community, and thus true discipleship, is often lacking.  Our goal is to assist the church in recognizing this priority, fulfilling Jesus' command to "go and make disciples."

  • ICT Partners
Those committed to the philosophy and goals of ICT who are involved through financial support and participation in various activities, including networking and helping determine the direction of ICT.  It is intended that there be a yearly gathering of these partners for the purpose of education, discussion, and direction-focus.
